Build Your Own Interactive Monster

Cost: $100 (Snack Provided)

Grade: Incoming 6-8 Grades

Learn how to create your own interactive stuffed monster along with the computer coding to control them. Walk away from this class with your personally designed interactive stuffed creature that will light up and sing a song you program it to! Join Mr. Shaw for this innovative course developed by i2 Programs and the MIT Lab.


Week 2: July 16-20, 8:00AM-12:00PM

Digital Manufacturing

Cost: $100 (Snack Provided)

Grade: Incoming 6-8 Grades

Learn how to control 3D printers. Laser Engravers and other digital manufacturing equipment and add to your creation with basic electronics. In this course you will learn how to model your ideas in computers and bring them to life with these professional machines. Join Mr. Shaw for this course developed specifically for FabLabs, Makerspaces and those interested in building.


About the Instructor

Jerry Shaw is the lead engineering teacher and curriculum developer at SSVT. He is also active in creating, teaching and adapting innovative curriculum with several organizations at the Junior High and High School level including:

Somerville High School’s FabLab

Previous to teaching he served as an engineer in the nuclear power and data center industries.
