Drama Club
Welcome to the South Shore Vocational Technical School Drama Club!
South Shore Vo-Tech Drama is in its 13th year. The founding "Mothers", Eileen Hayes and Sandy Smith, started in 1991 with The Devil and Daniel Webster which was performed in the school cafeteria. Culinary Arts students helped in making the first dinner show at South Shore and history was made!
Since the beginning of the construction of the new wing, all performances have been performed in the Lecture Hall and dinner is served in the new Brass Lantern restaurant. The Drama Club draws upon all the shops in the school to ensure a successful triumph in a true team effort.
Drafting students design our sets. Plans are then given to the Carpentry department for them to build the sets. Electrical students install all lighting and makes sure the dimmer board is up and running while Electronic students work on the sound system and special effects for the play. Precision Machining Technology and Metal Fabrication/Welding students make anchors and special projects for the sets such as swords created on a lathe machine for Taming of the Shrew. Graphic Communication students design and print programs, posters and tickets and Cosmetology students do hair and make-up for the actors.
Over the years teachers and guidance have helped make our annual Dinner Show one of the best highlights of the year!

Peer Mediators
Peer mediation is an organization where students can seek assistance with conflict resolution through their fellow peers who have been trained in peer mediation. A mediator is a student who acts as a go between for students experiencing a conflict. It is the responsibility of the mediators to provide a neutral, safe environment for peers to air out their differences and try to come to a solution on which they can agree. Mediators do not tell the disputants what to do. They provide an environment where disputants can agree to resolve or not resolve their differences.
The peer mediation program has an adult advisor; however, the actual mediation process is solely the responsibility of the mediators and the disputants themselves. The advisor acts as an overseer. If the situation warrants, the advisor leaves while the mediation occurs.
