The HVAC-R course will provide students with a basic understanding of the theories of heating, ventilation, A/C and refrigeration. The course includes specific training in the individual components of heating and cooling systems, and instruction in electrical, controls and wiring schematics. The HVAC program at SSVT includes: safety, fittings, soldering, brazing, piping, valves, pumps, electrical circuits, refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating principles and theory.

The primary focus of Grade 9 will be learning the basic skills that are needed to enter the HVAC field. They will also learn an array of copper skills, such as, bending, flaring, swaging, soldering and brazing

The primary focus of Grade 10 will be on learning residential and commercial refridgeration. Students will also expand on their electrical skills. During this year students will work towards their OSHA 10 Certification Card

The primary focus of Grade 11 is oil burners, hydronic heat, and air conditioning. Students will be instructed in the proper installation, repair, and maintenance of these systems and their electrical components. Additionally students will receive their EPA section 608a Universal certification and Refrigerant R410a safety certification.
