Cosmetology

This program provides you with hands on training in the beauty industry. Clinical training is supported by extensive study of related sciences in hair, skin, and nails. Demonstrations by guest artists and field trips to beauty shows are used as educational tools. Students prepare to take the state license exam for cosmetology certification. Co-op and job placement are available after students have completed their 1000-hour program and passed the State Board exam.
Course Content
Salon Management, Computer Training, Client Preparation, Retailing, Scalp Treatments, Hairstyling, Hair Cutting, Permanent Waves, Hair Coloring, Hair lightening techniques, Braiding, Facials, Make-up, Manicures.
Educational Opportunities
Advanced study, majoring in business related to this popular field, is available at Massasoit Community College, Bridgewater State University, Fisher Junior College, and Newbury Junior College.

American Cancer Society Wig Bank!

South Shore Vocational Technical High School is an official American Cancer Society Wig Bank. Wigs are provided at no cost to cancer patients and all wigs are new. A private, comfortable area is provided for patients to try on wigs. Information about the care of wigs will be given to patients. Additional services/ information is also available.
