Healthcare is one of the largest and fastest-growing industries in the country today. Population growth, longevity, and health reform have increased the need for additional educated and skilled health care workers.
The area of allied health encompasses a variety of medical careers, occupational therapy assistants, ultrasound technicians, medical billing, speech therapy and medical office assistants to name a few. The Allied Health Program is designed to provide an introduction to health related careers. It covers anatomy and physiology, nutrition and health, human growth and development, EKG technology as well as nurse aide/orderly procedures, medical office assisting and medical terminology.
Course Content
The Allied Health program will prepare you in: vital signs, body systems, diets, medical terminology, clinical procedures, patient care, care of the geriatric patient, care of the acute hospital patient, specimen collection, ergonomics, EKG technology and supervised clinical practice in hospitals and nursing homes.
