Mathematics
Math is a critical ingredient in nearly every program of studies at South Shore Vocational Technical High School. A wide range of math subjects are available to stimulate and challenge all of our students. Such courses are planned to support the student's career objectives in your shop area as well as to prepare for college. Courses include Algebra I and II, Geometry, Topics in Mathematics, Financial Literacy, Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus.

Science
Freshman and sophomore Biology is taught through an inquiry-based, hands-on approach. Emphasis is placed on the topics included in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in preparation for success on MCAS. Junior and senior science courses include Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Science Topics, and Physics. All science classes incorporate a lab component, requiring students to collect and analyze data and in some instances, make appropriate applications of information to a real-world problem.

Social Studies
Freshman and sophomore students are enrolled in United States History I and II, covering the historical events of our country from its birth into the twenty first century. The students are taught to organize how historical events influence our lives today and bind us together as Americans. Following United States history, the junior and senior students are offered a choice of social studies electives which may include courses such as; applied psychology, micro-economics, civics and law.

Summer Reading Program
Participation in the Summer Reading Program is a required element of the curriculum at South Shore Vocational Technical High School. There is one assignment for those students who will be entering grade 9 or 10 in September and another assignment for those students entering grade 11 or 12 in September.
