As the flu season approaches, the South Shore Technical High School will be taking steps to keep its students and staff healthy. The school will be offering school based flu shots for students. The shots will be offered during the school day with minimal interruption to your child’s schedule.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health Vaccine for Children program is providing the flu vaccine for the students, so there is no cost to families. Parents who wish to have their child vaccinated must completely fill out the required student consent form. This form must be completed and returned to the Health Office by October 31, 2018 for your child to receive the vaccine. The form and vaccine information sheet (VIS) are posted on our website. Your student may also request a consent form from the school nurse.
In addition to getting the flu vaccine, students, parents and staff are encouraged to follow these tips to stay healthy this flu season:
- Wash hands often
- Avoid others who are sick
- Stay home if you are sick
- Cough into your bent arm at the elbow instead of into your hands
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Health Office at 781-871-0263 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
